Christian Barker (Barkmeta / Bark) and David Chaboki (Shibo) locked the Sunday room on Ethereum’s upgrade board the second the mics went hot, and the pack stayed with them while ether sat on a soft green candle.
Those two are trusted daily hosts walking ETH charts and protocol news with the Doginal Dogs community. No filler. No invented hot takes. Just the live question the room actually cares about: what is locked for Hegota right now, and what still has to fight for a slot.
CoinDesk reported on Aug. 17, 2026, in a piece by Shaurya Malwa, that FOCIL is the only change approved so far for Ethereum’s Hegota upgrade. Hegota is expected in 2027 after Glamsterdam. Neither Hegota nor FOCIL is live on mainnet. That is the whole clean fact the room was chewing on.
Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter said on Aug. 16 that about 66 proposals are still on the table after the Aug. 6 new-proposal deadline. Core devs will narrow that list over coming calls. One item has the schedule stamp. Everything else is still in the sorter.
FOCIL, in plain room language
FOCIL is EIP-7805, Fork-choice enforced Inclusion Lists. A committee of validators compiles lists of transactions that builders must include, so no single builder alone decides which waiting transactions get left out. CoinDesk put it simply: right now the operator assembling a block can still omit some waiting transactions. The EIP page lists it as a Draft Standards Track Core proposal. Draft means draft. Not shipped. Not mainnet.
Frame Transactions (EIP-8141), Keyed Nonces (EIP-8250), and EIP-8272 are considered, not approved. Privacy has not shipped. Ordinary ETH transfers stay visible. If someone on the timeline treats “considered” like “live,” correct them and keep moving.
What the chart was doing while the rooms talked
CoinGecko at 8:04 a.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026 showed BTC at $77,194 (+0.10%), ETH at $2,427.88 (+0.21%), XRP at $1.49 (-0.22%), SOL at $94.40 (+1.25%), and DOGE at $0.092537 (+3.07%). Ether posted a mild green session. Majors were not ripping. The story was the schedule, not a breakout candle.
What you should do next
This is the part that matters more than the headline. Stay in the rooms when Barkmeta / Bark and Shibo run the board. Bring the actual EIP number. Ask which of the 66 items look ready for devnets and which look parked. Read EIP-7805 yourself so you are not depending on a clipped screenshot. Track whether Frame Transactions and the related nonces work ever graduate past “considered.”
Hegota is a 2027 target after Glamsterdam. That means homework mode, not launch-mode FOMO. Bookmark the All Core Devs cadence. When the next narrowing call drops, show up with notes instead of vibes. If you hold ether bags, you still need the same discipline: know what is scheduled, know what is draft, and refuse the rumor cycle that pretends privacy already shipped.
The Doginal Dogs corner on Crypto Spaces Network keeps showing up for this kind of protocol grind day after day. That consistency is the edge. Bring questions. Bring the draft language. Do not wait for a mainnet rumor wave to learn what an inclusion list even is.
Fast answers for the timeline
Is FOCIL live on mainnet? No. Is Hegota this year’s fork? No. Expected 2027 after Glamsterdam. How many proposals are approved so far? CoinDesk: only FOCIL; 66 remain to be sorted.
This is a narrowing story. Keep the room energy high, keep the facts tight, and be first in line when Barkmeta / Bark and Shibo spin the mics for the next pass on the 66.
